Programming and Outreach Workforce!
POW! (Programming and Outreach Workforce) is The Center OC’s new hub for connecting volunteers to Center services and to one another.
Bi-weekly meetings are held so that Center staff, volunteers, organizations, ongoing groups, and interested parties (like you!) can come together to network, brainstorm, and collaborate on Center events, ongoing group activities, and the launching of new projects!
Our meetings are where you can meet representatives from various Center programs and services, and where staff, counselors, and volunteers announce new initiatives and request volunteer help.
Can't make it to the next meeting? No problem! Send a request email to email@example.com and we'll put you on the mailing list to receive POW! Reports. POW! reports are our bi-weekly newsletters about what happened at the most recent POW! meeting, and the place to catch any/all community event announcements. POW! also facilitates the Speaker’s Bureau, which provides training to interested volunteers on how to become Empowerment Ambassadors. Empowerment Ambassadors are able to represent The Center at outreach events as tablers, panelists, facilitators, and community educators.
Whether you want to participate in a social group, start a new activity, or volunteer for the Center in any capacity – from helping organize activities to helping out at the front desk to staffing events to being a community advocate – POW! is the central place to make it happen.
To get on our email list, receive the latest copy of the P.O.W.! report, or ask any questions, contact Kaeti and Traci at firstname.lastname@example.org or leave us a message at (714) 953-5428 x 331
New POW! projects that need your help:
1) One or several gardening groups are in the process of forming. If you have any interest in small-scale or community gardening, at any experience level (even none!), we would love to have you be part of the conversation as we grow this group to fit our needs and vision.
2) Hiking and Queer Film Groups have facilitators, and are seeking participants and volunteers!
Free Advocacy & Outreach Training!
Interested in being a part of The Center’s outreach and advocacy team? Become an Empowerment Ambassador!
We often get requests to table events – community Pride events big and small, diversity fairs at local colleges, etc. We currently get more of these requests than we are equipped to staff! Your participation not only means adventure for you, but a larger and richer presence in the community for The Center.
Join us for two hours of learning about all The Center has to offer, and a quick how-to about representing The Center out in the world.
Once you have done this training, you get the fabulous title of Empowerment Ambassador, and will be able to become a panelist, facilitator, or educator for our Speaker’s Bureau.
