Hermosa y Protegida
The Gay & Lesbian Community Services Center of Orange County (The Center OC) hosted the 19th annual Hermosa y Protegida HIV Prevention Pageant on Saturday, April 28 at the Pearson Park Amphitheatre in Anaheim. The annual event this year drew a crowd of more than 700 guests. Stay tuned for the date of our 20th annual pageant to be held in the spring of 2013.
In addition to the glitz and glamour of a beauty pageant, Hermosa y Protegida creatively presents life-saving messages about HIV transmission and prevention. The number of new HIV infections continues to grow in Orange County, and the Hispanic and Latino population is disproportionately affected by the disease.
