Planned Giving and Legacy
"As one of the oldest LGBT centers in the United States, the Center OC has been supporting and caring for our community for more than 38 years. I have named the Center OC in my estate planning so that the Center can continue its legacy for the LGBT generations to come."

The Center Orange County invites you to consider The Center OC in your estate planning to ensure The Center is here for the next generations.
Many of us have partners, and are acutely aware that Federal tax laws and inheritance laws still discriminate against same-sex couples.
Many of us do not have children, and so we count all of our LGBTQ youth as our children.
Some of us want to leave all of our assets to our loved ones, and yet include The Center as a contingency beneficiary.
It is possible to protect your partner and loved ones and also take care of our community. We can help assure that you, not the government, determine how your estate is distributed.
By planning your estate, the wealth you have built will live on to make a difference for our youth and our community. Please consider joining others and leaving a part of your estate, large or small, to The Center.
A Few Simple but Meaningful Ways to Participate
- Outright Gifts
A gift of cash or other assets such as appreciated securities (any amount) will help build the endowment immediately. - Wills
You may give a percentage of your estate assets or a specific sum of money to The Center Orange County in your will. - Life Insurance
It’s easy to complete a “change of beneficiary form” for an existing policy to give a percentage of your life insurance or the total amount. Or purchase a new policy and make The Center OC the owner and irrevocable beneficiary. - Retirement Funds
Completing a “change of beneficiary form” for an IRA or other retirement fund allows you to leave a gift to The Center.
How to Include The Center OC
To receive more information on making a gift and to confidentially discuss any aspect of your estate planning, please contact Thomas Soule, Director of Develoment, at 714-953-5428, or by email. We are more than happy to meet with you to discuss the many ways in which you can leave a gift and also meet your financial goals, such as reducing estate or gift taxes on assets you pass on to your heirs.
We recommend that you consult your own estate planning attorney and financial advisor, however we are also able to guide you to one who is qualified to work with our community.
A conversation with us can ensure that documents are accurate. Should you prefer to proceed on your own, here are some important points to remember.
