For 40 years, The Center Orange County has been advocating on behalf of the Orange County LGBT community, working to ensure its well being and positive identity.
As the only organization focused solely on the needs of our community in Orange County, The Center OC serves as the safety net for health and social services for the local LGBT community.
The Center OC is a stable organization, with a balanced budget and a permanent home in central Santa Ana. After 38 years of renting, it was a landmark moment to move into this property, which is much more welcoming, visible and accessible than our previous location. This facility provides our clients with a dedicated counseling suite with a private entrance, pleasant facilities and flexible hours six days a week.
Our dream is to fully pay off the mortgage for the property at 1605 North Spurgeon Street in Santa Ana well ahead of schedule. Retiring this debt as quickly as possible will help us dedicate more of our resources to directly impacting the needs of our community and will help secure The Center’s financial foundation for years to come.
The terms of our mortgage state that we cannot prepay any portion until June, 2015. Our goal is to raise $250,000 prior to that date, so that we may pay down the balance as much as possible when the penalties are lifted. This aligns with our organizational philosophy of responsibly meeting today’s needs while laying a sustainable foundation for future growth.

All donations to the Burn the Mortgage Campaign are restricted for use in paying down The Center OC’s mortgage on the bulding at 1605 N. Spurgeon Street in Santa Ana. The funds will be placed in a high-interest-bearing account until June, 2015, and will then be applied to the balance due on the mortgage at that time.
