updated 2/7/07 The Center Orange County Scholarship Opportunities OVERVIEW The Center Orange County scholarship program makes a difference. We support and honor lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and allied (straight and supportive of LGBT issues) students, as well as students from LGBT families. In 2007 we will award for post-secondary education, including nontraditional programs, creative study and vocational training. Our scholarships are open to residents of Orange County, California or to students currently enrolled in an accredited postsecondary education programs in Orange County. All of our awards consider commitment to human and civil rights. THE DENNIS W. CABARET SCHOLARSHIP The Dennis W. Cabaret Scholarship provides the majority of scholarship funds available for 2007. The scholarship was created in 1998 to promote higher education and scholastic achievement coupled with community-based activism within the LGBT community in Orange County, California. The scholarship is named after Dennis W, Cabaret, who was a community leader, gay activist and founder of several organizations and programs that have shaped the LGBT community in Orange County today. Individuals who have been influenced by the activism of Dennis Cabaret have developed this scholarship as an example of what is possible through community activism combined with a commitment to be an agent of change. 2007 Deadline: June 15, 2007.
